A Post From Pixie

Hiya! I'm Pixie, you may have heard of me, my Girl says that we got 17 comments on the last post about me! As you can see, I'm very popular. I've only been outside twice in my life, once when I was born and another time when I met my Dad, Tinkerbell, Aunt Silver, Grand Maaa Wendy, and Great Grand Maaa Huey. I also met a F.O.T.F. Friend Of The Family, Zoe, she's the only black goat besides my dad and me. My dad is not very nice, he followed my Maaa around and sniffed her a lot. Not very nice manners, I mean, she just had a baby for crying out loud!

Here's what I like, sleeping in my Girl's arms on the couch (she falls asleep too!), Music, one of my favorites is Wild Fire by Micheal Murphy, I also like Peaches by the Presidents of the United States of America. My Maaa's milk, who wouldn't! The Girl says that she is going to start milking her soon. Jumping on the couch, the Girl's mom says that I'm aloud to because I'm so light I won't ruin it! Sitting in the Girl's lap when she's on the computer.

Here's what I don't like: Orange peels, they are way to sour! I'll stick with milk, thanks. Being picked up when I'm playing and running around the house. Yes, I'm aloud to do that! My Maaa licking my rear when I'm trying to eat. Really, you can lick me after!

My Girl says I have to go, she is very tired, she played in the Badger State Soccer Tournament today. She was a guest player on her little sister's team.

Pixie Meets the Other Goats and the Ducks

P is for Pixie

If you haven't read my blog recently, then you don't know that we have a new little goat on the farm.

Meet Pixie. This is her with her mom, Gold. Her daddy is Tinkerbell. She was born 3 days ago.

She is such a good mommy! But at first she wasn't, here is their story.

Okay, it's a normal day. Just going to drop my Grandma at the airport so she can go to Arizona. I go out to give to goats their food and fresh water. I didn't even notice her at first, I just took the door off, and gave them their food. I stood there watching them eat as I like to do. And thought to myself, does Gold look a little skinny? I looked closer and thought, "Huh, she has blood on her." It didn't even register in my mind that she could have had a baby. Picture me hearing the high, keening cry of a newborn baby goat who's hungry. I turned around and saw her in the corner, trying to stand up and get by her mommy. I thought, " Huh, there's a baby goat, guess I'm not going to the airport." Then, "AHG! A baby goat!!!" I scooped her up and ran for the house. The standard protocol for finding a baby goat, is as follows: Either screaming so loudly everyone hears you in the house and knows that there is a baby goat, or screaming not quite as loud the whole time you're running to the house, so that when they finally hear you, you're already half way there, and all they have to do is open the door. I did neither. I just ran into the house and screeched, "YOU GUYS!" I put her in the sink and started drying her off. The whole time I'm yelling orders at all the other kids, "Marn! Go get straw to put in the basement for them, Sal, get Gold and bring her in here! Kid! More towels!" Of course, between all that, I was cooing and talking to Pixie. We didn't know what we were going to name her at that point. Her mommy was freaked out by the basement and the fact that a little goat kid had just come out of her. It could have been the cat's for all she cared. She didn't lick or nurse or love her baby. We had to hold her still, so Pixie could nurse. She has a wonderful instinct to nurse, I don't think she would have even have taken a bottle. Then, last night, she started to nurse and lick her like the mothering switch had just been switched to on inside her head. Now, she gets up whenever Pixie does, so if she wants to nurse she can. I'm writing this with Pixie on my lap. I should probably go downstairs and give her back to her mother.

It's a Girl!!!

Gold had a baby! A little girl. I'm not sure what I'm naming her yet but feel free to suggest something. I know I was going to name the next baby girl Oasis, but it doesn't seem to fit. Maybe Jewel or Eve or Luna? At the moment she's in the basement with her mommy because it's to cold for her outside. I'll put pictures up ASAP!

P.S. She's all black with two spots of white on her side. I sure hope I win those goat coats now!

I didn't do a Alphabe-Thursday post because I woke up late and took care of the goats, went swimming at the YMCA and then went to my Grandma's house to spend the night, I'm going to the mall today to get new jeans, it's my late christmas gift from her. I'm posting from her house right now. I'll do another post later today.

Pics From Today and a Birthday!

Zoe got snow all over her chin, I trimmed all the goats beards this fall right before winter so that when they drank water it wouldn't freeze. I think maybe she is trying to replace it!

My sister put a chicken in her coat, she had her head sticking out, silly!

Uhura was stretching to see if I had some treats in my hand, I didn't, maybe tomorrow I will!

When we have a food scrape, we don't throw it away, we put it in a bag by the sink and every morning we take it out and give them to the chickens, that way they get nutrients in the winter.

The goats like the banana peels best!

Happy Birthday to my littlest sister, she turned 8 today!

N is for New Dentist

Look at Billie. She seems to want to be a dentist now.

She pulled it out of the bag and was biting it. Cats...

She then started smiling at me as if she wanted to show of her teeth, I couldn't even see them.

Then she started playing with some floss I got out for her, she is very odd.

We got Billie for my brother for his birthday two years ago. My mom didn't even tell him he was getting a kitten. They went to this lady's house because she had found kittens on the side of the road. Billie was there with her brother, another orange kitten, a little calico girl and an older white and brown tabby male. I think he should have gotten the calico girl, I love calico cats. He named her Billie after Bill the cat in Bloom County, who always has his tongue hanging out going "arrhg". Billie does not do this... thankfully. When he got home, we were waiting for him in the upstairs hallway, our dad had made us go up there to be surprised by Marn walking up the stairs holding a tiny, little, orange kitten. We all responded by squeeing a lot and generally scaring the crap out of her. We took her to the vet a couple weeks later to get fixed. when she came home she was loopy as a hula-hoop. Really loopy. She acted super weird and out of order. She even fell down the steps at one point. Cats don't do that very often. Then she got really energetic, screaming around the house at four in the morning, chasing my cat, Sully and tackling her a lot, basically, acting like a kitten. Now, she's calmed down a bit and acts more mature.

Goat Coat Giveaway!

Texan is having a goat coat giveaway! I entered because I need to be prepared if one of my goats has babies. I think Uhura is due soon but I also thought that back in September and November. So I really don't know. I think she is due soon because she still has her ligaments, but her tail head and around the ligaments is really squishy. Does this make sense?

Tink and the Size Difference

Tink is huge compared to Zoe. That is the real size difference, not the angle or anything.

Gold is our next tallest goat. Not the biggest, that's Huey's title. (When I say big, I mean fat.)

Can you even see her in this picture? No, you can't, because even though she's the second tallest goat, she's still a heck of a lot shorter then Tinky.
